Biography

Lorenzo Gonnelli (born 1994) is an Italian filmmaker and photographer. In 2017, he worked as an editor on Antonio D’Addio’s audiovisual installation Sheep-Sheep, presented at the 57th Venice Biennale. Since 2020, he has been collaborating with Q2Visual on video mapping and immersive installations, presenting projects at international festivals such as the Sziget Festival, Eurosonic Noorderslag and the 40th Leeds International Film Festival. In 2023, his screenplay Catene was selected for the ShorTS Development & Pitching Training, the Figari Film Festival and the Omladinski Film Festival, also winning the Sentiero Film Lab Award. In 2024, he directed the short film Animali Senza Dio. Alongside his film work, he developed a photographic research project centred on the relationship between body, space and memory. In the same year, he presented the project Acciaio as part of FOCO – Exposing Contemporary Photography at Ma.Co.f – Centro della Fotografia Italiana and at the MArteLive Biennale. The project received the Fiuto Art Space Prize at the Liquida Photo Festival and was selected for the Arte Laguna Prize. In 2025, under the guidance of Jean-Marc Caimi and Valentina Piccinni for Yogurt Magazine, he developed the photographic project Fuochi Fatui. In 2026, he opened the solo exhibition Seconde Nature at FIUTO Art Space, curated by Alex Urso, and was selected to take part in Michelangelo Frammartino’s directing workshop in Naples. Resti Umani is his latest short film.
